Is Surgery Really The Answer To Varicocele?

Varicoceles are believed to be caused by defective valves in the veins within the scrotum, just above the testicles. Normally, these valves regulate the flow of blood to and from the testicles. When normal flow doesn't occur, the blood backs up, causing the veins to dilate (enlarge).

According to modern sciences, varicocele treatment is only effective with surgery. Modern science also indicates that varicoceles cannot truly be cured and has a recurrence rate of almost 35%. These are known as recurrent varicoceles. Note that surgery does not ensure permanent relief and involves a recovery period of 4 to 5 weeks. On top of the varicocele, the damage is done to the vas deferens which can cause a permanent reduction in sperm production. It is your decision whether surgery is right for you or not, especially after you are aware of the available non-surgical options.
